4 mm MTC drives Operating the 4 mm MTC drive
● The error indicator can display two different colors: amber or green. It only
displays green immediately after the system has been powered up. The
indicator is extinguished once the self-test has been passed.
If the error indicator flashes amber, the MTC drive should be cleaned without
delay, since it is no longer possible to guarantee correct operation.
If the error indicator is illuminated in amber, the MTC drive has a fault.
V You must not press the release button of the MTC drive if the data
transfer or standby indicator is illuminated or flashing. This can cause
loss of data.

Ê With the window face up, push the cartridge into the drive slot until it is drawn

is illuminated.
Removing a 4 mm magnetic tape cartridge
Ê Always wait until the standby indicator (green LED) is no longer flashing and
is illuminated and the read or write operation has been completed. This
means that the tape has stopped.
