RS-232/422/485 Setup
In the Setup Menu, use ▲▼ to change the highlighted option to RS-232/422/485, and then
press Enter to open the RS-232/422/485 menu. This menu allows the administrator to setup the
RS-232 control port, RS-422, or the RS-485 control port. General operations of this menu are
defined below.
▲▼ : (Mouse: Left click) Use these buttons to select the desired menu or area.
• Esc: (Mouse: Right Click) Use this button to escape from the current screen, and return to the
previous menu. If the Save dialog is shown, press Enter to exit and save, or Esc (Mouse: Right
Click) to exit without saving.
• Device Type: This is the defined device type. The options available are PTZ, Keyboard, GPS,
POS, PTZ+Keyboard or N/A (Not Available). Use the +/- buttons to change the device type.
A PTZ camera can use RS-232 or RS-422/485, but not both.
• Model: The PTZ model (for PTZ and PTZ+Keyboard), Keyboard model, GPS protocol, or POS
printer type for the connected devices. The PTZ models supported include Pelco D protocol
cameras, Samsung SCC-641P, Kalatel Cyber Dome, PIH-series, Dynacolor, Bosch AutoDome,
Video Trek, etc. Keyboard models supported include Terminal (EX. VT-100) and Control Protocol
keyboards. For the Terminal type, use the corresponding ASCII characters to to define the type.
The GPS protocol that is supported by these DVRs NMEA0183. The POS printer types supported
include Epson General (EX. Epson-TM200, Epson-TMU300, Epson-TMU675, Epson-TMT882,
Epson-RPU420, and Epson-MD332S) and Epson-TMU295. Use the +/- buttons to change the
supported model or protocol. If the PTZ+Keyboard is selected on Device Type, the Keyboard
model is always set to Control Protocol, and all other settings (Baud Rate, Data Bit, Stop Bit, &
Parity) are the same as the PTZ Model selected.
• Baud Rate: Use the +/- buttons to change the value.
• Data Bit: Use the +/- buttons to change the value.
• Stop Bit: Use the +/- buttons to change the value.
• Parity: Use the +/- buttons to change the value. (Odd, Even, or None).
• DVR/Camera ID: This setting is for a PTZ/Keyboard. The device ID for the Keyboard must not
conflict with the other devices connected in the same control port. When using GPS/POS, in order
for the Camera ID to receive the GPS/POS data, “Multiple” must be selected on the POS menu.
Multiple POS will only function on an RS-232 port, so it will only function on the 16 channel model.
Use the +/- buttons to change the ID of the selected device.
